What do you need before you can schedule any driving lessons?
You need to have a valid New York State learners Permit.
What do I need to have with me when I call to schedule my road test?
You will need to have your five hour certificate (MV-278) or Certificate of Completion from Driver Education (MV-285) in hand.
What do I need to bring to the road test?
If you are under the age of 18:

1. Your Five Hour Course Certificate (MV-278 original only) or MV-285 (Certificate of Completion from Driver Education – original only). Be sure to detach the bottom quarter of the MV-285 and retain for your insurance company.

2. Your Picture Permit (not Temporary)

3. Your MV-262 – 50 hours of Certified Driving

Do I get a second chance to take the road test?
Absolutely. In fact, you are able to take the exam as many times as necessary in order to pass . Re-tests cannot be taken the same day. When you received your Class D, DJ, E, M or MJ permit, the fee that you paid included 2 road exams from the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. If you are unsuccessful in passing the road exam in 2 attempts, you will need to pay an additional $10 to the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles for 2 more attempts before you can schedule a road exam.
If you decide to use our services for your next attempts, 4 Seasons will charge you a discounted price of $75 to take you to and from the road test site.
How long is my 5 Hour Certificate valid for?
One year and if it expires, you must re-take the class.
When you apply for a learner permit, the fee includes the written test, two road exams, and your driver license. The learner permit is valid for 5 years .
